Adwords Exact Match Tips

Dynamically Insert Keywords Into Your Ads

{keyword: }

When creating or editing your Adwords ad, you may include the above to automatically insert the keyword phrase the user queried into your advertisement's title or description.

I recommend using this within your ad title to provide exact matching within your ads in the most prominent area.

Note, after the colon: include a default keyword that will be displayed if the search keyword can not be displayed (i.e. too long).

Since a variety of terms may be inserted in your ad based upon what is queried, this should be used within a context that will make sense for all variables.

For example, if your ad is being distributed to target keywords associated with IBM products ... then you could use this technique within your ad description as follows.

Example Description

Buy {keyword:IBM Products} online.
Call 800-555-1212 for more info

In this example, if a user queried Google for IBM notebooks they would be provided with your ad including the following description.

Example Description

Buy IBM notebooks online.
Call 800-555-1212 for more info

Alternatively, if another user queried Google for Used IBM Laptops they would be provided with your ad including the following description.

Example Description

Buy Used IBM Laptops online.
Call 800-555-1212 for more info

Capitalization

Benefits Of Using This Tactic

Someone is more likely to view and select your advertisement if it includes exactly the keywords that they queried. By dynamically including the user's keyword phrase within the text of your ads you will increase the relevancy of your message.

By using this tactic, it is not necessary to set up a unique ad for each keyword phrase targeted in order to have it included within your ad's text.
