Designated Market Area

A DMA is a geographic area defined by county with each county being assigned to only one Designated Maret Area. Nielsen Media Research estimates the number of TV Homes and provides a simple 1 to 210 ranking of US geographic areas based upon the number of homes with at least one TV. The New York DMA has the most TV homes with over 7 million and the Nashville DMA is ranked 30 of 210 with 927,500 TV homes. Share percentages are based on an estimate that there are a total of 110,213,910 TV homes.
