Script To Add Exact Match Brackets

Exact Match Overview
If you surround your keywords in brackets-such as [tennis shoes]-your ads will appear when users search for the specific phrase tennis shoes, in this order, and without any other terms in the query. For example, your ad won't show for the query red tennis shoes. Exact matching is the most targeted option. Although you won't receive as many impressions with exact matching, you'll likely enjoy the most clicks, because users searching for terms in this manner typically want precisely what your business has to offer.
Problem

I am logged into AdWords and have navigated to the Edit Keywords page where I have a long list of keyword phrases that I want to add brackets to so they are distributed based upon exact match queries only.

Solution

Before starting you will want to open your Google Adwords account in a separate browser window and navigate to the page where you edit your keywords. From there follow the steps below to easily add brackets to all of your keywords at once.

  1. Click to open the .txt file Google Squares

  2. Select all (CTRL + A) and Copy (CTRL + C) the Google Squares script

  3. Paste (CTRL + P) the script within the url bar of the Google Adwords "Edit Keywords" page

  4. Hit "Enter" key to process script in your browser

Result

Presto! All keyword phrases within "Edit Keywords" are automatically provided with [exact matching brackets]
